The M80 Ring Road Upgrade extends 38 kilometres, from the Princes Freeway at Laverton North to the Greensborough Highway at Greensborough. The project has improved safety, eased congestion, reduced travel times and improved reliability for all road users. The upgrade was carried out in stages, with the most congested sections and those with the worst safety record being upgraded first. Tulla Sydney Alliance has delivered 9.7 kilometres of the upgrade between Calder Freeway and Sydney Road. Berne Fleming Civil was awarded the Sydney Road widening; Camp Road to Thompson Street. This involved working in a heavily trafficked road as well as a few weeks working a second night time shift from 8:00pm to be off the road by 4:00am – a Vic Roads stipulation.

The project was a success. Vic Roads demanded strict conformance testing for materials, tracking of materials, tolerances for level and line, all underground stormwater pipes were inspected by CCTV footage, compaction testing in layers were required – all of our work was approved first time without fail.
