Building and Heavy Duty Pavement Works

Due to the consolidation of their two Melbourne manufacturing plants into their existing St. Albans Plant, Vinidex required an additional 1,500 m2 storage warehouse, 9,000 m2 if extra external concrete hardstand, and an upgrade of their existing fire services to meet the current fire brigade regulations.

Berne Fleming Civil was initially awarded the construction and suggested the redesign of the 9,000 m2 heavy duty concrete hardstand. This led to BFC being awarded the detailed design and construction of a 1,500 m2 warehouse and the detailed design and construction of a full plant fire services upgrade.

Some 10 years later, Berne Fleming Civil was further engaged to undertake the design and construction of some 10,000 square metres of heavy duty concrete pavements and associated drainage, electrical, data, communication and fire service works. Stage 1 and Stage 2 works were completed in 2015 and 2016 respectively with Stage 3 works to be completed at the beginning of 2017. Further to the heavy duty concrete pavements, BFC was engaged to deliver the design and construction of a canopy extension to the previous warehouse built on site some 10 years ago. The project included the design and construction of a 600 square metre undercover canopy extension to accommodate the loading and unloading of products on site. Works included the design and construction of concrete foundations, steel structures, roof and wall cladding, electrical works, fire service works and associated below ground drainage works.
